First of all this post is racist as fuck. Is it because all of these women are black? NONE OF THESE NAMES ARE GHETTO and the amount of notes it has are disgusting.
Ashanti - A common name in Ghana. It is a name from a powerful African empire. It is a fucking African name.
Aaliyah - It’s also a fucking African name. It means “High Exalted”, “Highest of All”, “To Ascend”. It also means Princess, Beautiful, Goddess, and some other beautiful meanings.
Beyonce - Oh look, another fucking African name. It means “beyond others”. It also derives from the French surname Beyincé, which is also her mother’s maiden name.
Ciara - It is of Irish origin and it means “dark haired beauty” or “black”.
Onika - Yet, another African name. It means warrior and is most often used as a boy’s name.
Last but not least, Zendaya, which is also a fucking African name. It is a language of Zimbabwe/Southern Zambi. It means “To give thanks”.
Just because it’s not of your culture doesn’t mean it’s fucking ghetto. Who wants a common ass name anyway? You are racist and ignorant. Please educate yourself.

Preach.

Wow

The course is extremely good, and a lot of fun! Over the two years, I learnt so much about all sorts of animation, including 2D, 3D, Stop Motion, and more! The course includes projects such as Kinetic Typography, Character Reimagaining, 3D Modeling, Art History, Traditional Animation, Website Design, and all sorts of other topics!
The lecturer Matt is hilarious, and despite being called a lecturer, he doesn’t lecture people (much). He’s a bit of a drill sergeant, but it’s all for good reasons, and if you try your best then you guys will get along just as well as we did :3
This is as much as I can think of at the minute (forgive me if I’ve missed anything, I’ve just got back from holiday), but I’ll tag some other people from my class who have done the course I case they have anything to add.

The course changes slightly from year to year to accommodate both what teachers are available and what the students are like. The year before and after us have not had all the same types of coursework.

Just some more info on the course

Our first course work was character design, we were given the theme Fairy tail re written, we had to look at the original story and change it however we wished, we also had to include drawing practice in the work and our work included both hand drawing and photoshop (Note to anyone who has not yet used photoshop it is better as a colouring tool rather than a drawing tool so it is best to scan hand drawings in first if you find your work doesn’t live up to what you know you are capable of)

Our next project was narrative image making where we had to tell a story with no or very few words. We had to have at least four pages, so that could be four images on four pages in a children’s book style or a comic with many images.

Then we had Kinetic Typography wish can be quite tricky if you are not used to the program. We took sound clips and added moving words to it, the main thing about it is that it’s good to explore the 3D environment which I did well and make everything quick…..which I did not. More than one student usually restarts the project after they find themselves unhappy with what they have created first time around.

Then came 2D animation which was a lot of fun, if you want to hand draw a 10 to 30 second animation it will take all of your working and free time as animations are usually 25 pictures per second, but you can try and get away with 12 if you wanted to. The other option is digital which can be hard if you are not completely aware of how your characters will move around because they tend to look like puppets first time around.

Then it’s stop motion and the same rule applies for frames per second, and I cannot stress enough how much you will be needing to use a tripod for the work.

Then was a mini art/animation history project in which you need to write about certain artist (Like Tim Burton) but you also get to recreate work, like Doing a family guy character in the style of renaissance art.

And that was our first year

Well just so any americans don’t get confused, this is in the UK, so you need to be 16+ to join the course. In the first year, what I’ve done so far is:

  • Basic drawing anatomy
  • Perspective drawing
  • A lot of drawing
  • Creating a basic animation in any medium to show off your skills.
  • Imagining, drawing, and annotating character designs, environmental concepts and object concepts/
  • Creating a kinetic Typography on computers.
  • Creating a narrative image, such as a comic, storyboard, animatic.
  • Utilising the skills to create an animatic and storyboard of an animation, and then creating it in stop-motion.

In the second year, I believe you do:

  • 3D modelling, including characters, environments and objects
  • 3D animation with said models
  • Planning and recording the process of your final piece
  • Creating a final piece of any medium, be it a piece of artwork, concept design, animation narrative image.

The class is really fun, and the people in it are great, annoying as a few are. The teachers are relaxed with understandable rules but nothing too strict. The workload does pile up, but I find it enjoyable so I find fun it doing the work even on my days off.

If you want to see anyone who has actually done the full course, ask theraceofspacewolves, she was in the year above and really helped through the first year. She’s incredibly nice too, so I also recommend following her ^-^

Anybody who lives in Bedford, UK  and is 16+ can join..

Newborn baby stuns doctors by holding her own bottle (in the UK)

A baby girl has amazed doctors with her ability to hold her own feeding bottle. Two-week-old Ammra was able to grasp her bottle alone just three days after she was born at Queen’s Hospital, Romford in Essex, her mother Onyi Chiedozie said. The 20-year-old, who is using a combination of breast and bottle feeding, said doctors and nurses were stunned by the baby’s ability to master her strong grip so soon after she was born.
